WE STARTED ANORAQ, FUNDAMENTALLY, TO GET MORE PEOPLE/FAMILIES OUTSIDE.
We know the health benefits of being outside, and we understand the positive mental and physical state changes that being outside can do for us all. So when it came to combining product and environment, it was important to us here at Anoraq that we did it in a way that put the environment, the outdoors, first.
We've always been cautious about making too many claims about 'sustainability'. The world we live in is moving and changing so quickly that it takes time for something to be sustainable. '
So, rather than making empty claims like "sustainability is at the core of what we do," we wanted to point out what we are doing.

Product
BIFFA collects all fabric scraps and remnants, which are either recycled or transformed into raw materials and repurposed.
ANORAQs are made in the UK. Aeroplanes emit around 100 times more CO2 per hour than a shared bus or train, so we wanted to eliminate flying our products worldwide as much as possible.
We use the larger fabric remnants and offcuts, turning them into reversible waterproof bags, which are then sold in our shop.
Shipping
Our primary courier is DPD, which we chose partly because of its environmental initiatives. For example, 34% of its fleet is Electric, and it has offset all delivery emissions since 2013.
We have used other couriers and endeavoured to offset emissions every time we have been offered the opportunity.
Packaging
We have eliminated almost all plastic in our packaging, and bags in our shop in Braunton are made from 100% recycled materials.
In most cases, we use unprinted and unbleached cardboard to package and ship our products.
Marketing
We encourage people to buy less 'stuff' but higher quality, more durable goods.
